The annual World Architecture Festival will be organized this year from December 4 to 6, 2019. During the event, 550 nominated architects can present their projects to an assessment panel, but also to the other nominees, so that discussion can also arise between the participants.
The panels choose a winner for each of the 35 categories. The 'super jury' (not yet known) then decides which of these projects will win the main prizes.
Two projects from Pieters have been nominated for these Awards.
The former main post office of Rotterdam, is a national monument and one of the few remaining historic buildings in Rotterdam. It is located on the Coolsingel next to the equally historic town hall. In addition to restoring the building to its former glory, there will also be a 150-meter high residential tower. The design is from ODA NY in collaboration with Braaksma & Roos.
The Flour Factory, Leiden
The former flour factory on the Oosterkerkstraat in Leiden is being redeveloped into a residential area. Old factory buildings are being converted into homes, a hotel, a spa & wellness, cafes, restaurants, galleries, shops and office spaces for creative companies, but demolition and new construction are also taking place. Almost the entire complex is a national monument.
