National Steel Prize 2010

Industrial Construction category: Wilo Nederland, Westzaan.

Jury report:
'This project proves that much more is possible than just straightforward industrial buildings with an office on the side. From the outside and from the inside, the building looks consequential and convincing. Everything carefully designed in the same atmosphere, right up to the permanent furnishings. The structure is sophisticated and bright. Less convincing is the legitimacy of its somewhat brutal, angled shape—in this case the function does not really justify the form.
From an urban development point of view, the building is well situated with precisely the right prospects. The building is a breath of fresh air, not least of all because of the humour that it exudes. And that is also a credit to the client! A clear winner in this category.'
