Timber

Surprisingly, the most innovative structures can be created using one of the oldest building materials in the world: timber. Material properties and advantages such as sustainability, appearance and freedom within the building concept are often factors that sway the choice towards innovative timber applications such as cross-laminated timber.

Pieters has been quick to adopt innovations in this area and worked on many projects where new timber applications play the starring role.

Such as Hotel Jakarta, which was the highest modular building with a timber support structure in the world at the time of its completion and handover. We were also closely involved in Patch22; the highest timber building in the Netherlands.

Pieters’ projects that use timber include Hotel Jakarta, Patch22 in Amsterdam, De Kamers in Amersfoort, Nieuwe Park Rozenburgschool in Rotterdam, Bosvilla in Bergen and Dune House on the island of Terschelling.
