AFAS Trainingscomplex opened

5 September 2016

Last Saturday, Louis van Gaal organised the official opening of the AFAS Trainingscomplex in Zaanstad. Starting this season, this complex will be the site where the AZ Jeugdopleiding (youth training) and the A-team will train and play their games. Leeuwenkamp architecten provided the architectural design for the complex, and Pieters designed the structural construction.

The building, which has a total floor area of 3500 m², is divided into two parts, the area for the A-team and that for the AZ Youth Programme. There are a total of eleven changing rooms, twelve office areas, a physical therapy room, a fitness area and three recovery rooms. In addition to all that, there is a wellness area, five conference rooms, three laundry rooms, two audio-visual areas, an administrative room, two players' lounges, a press room and, on the outside, a grandstand for two hundred spectators.

The opening of the complex was covered extensively by the media.
