The 20 from Architecture Center Amsterdam
Architecture Center Amsterdam (ARCAM) is looking forward to 2020 in which a laundry list of buildings will be delivered in Amsterdam. From offices to residential blocks, and from a skating rink to a snack bar. ARCAM has made a list of the 20 buildings that you must keep an eye on!
Pieters is involved in a number of the buildings involved.
Westbeat in Amsterdam New West of Studioninedots will be a place with multiple faces. This way, the building will combine living with recreation. The core of the building is the "shared Super Space", a place for exhibitions, music performances, workplaces and hospitality. Sustainability is of paramount importance. There will be a private courtyard garden and a green wall will be laid to purify the air in the building.
The Three Kings
Three former water purification silos on Zeeburgereiland are being transformed by architectural firm Elephant, who have written and designed the winning plan together with Grayfield, Vink Bouw and Brouwerij 't IJ. The three towers each have a different purpose with a focus on the neighborhood and on sustainability. In the towers there will be room for sporting and cultural activities and a tasting room of Brouwerij ’t IJ. The roofs of the silos become publicly accessible.
Van der Valk Hotel Zuidas
Hotel chain Van der Valk will open the doors of a new branch on the Zuidas in 2020. The design of the building is by Wiel Arets Architects and consists of a triangular floor plan with 14 floors. A multitude of terraces offers a view of the Zuidas and Amsterdam. Part of these floors will be used, in addition to the hotel, as a garage, meeting room and catering. A special feature is the green noise barrier, perpendicular to the A10, so that at ground level you have no view of the cars but of a garden with a water channel.
In the Overhoeks district on the IJ, design by Rudy Uytenhaak + Partners Architects will be the IKC Overhoeks. This building will, among other things, offer space for a primary school, daycare center, playgroup and out-of-school care. Green-edged eaves clarify the green and sustainable nature of the school. The design fits in with the modern building blocks in the neighborhood by the horizontal lines. The silhouette and a striking entrance ensure sufficient individuality.
