Hubert Kuijpers speaker at Youcon

Hubert Kuijpers, Constructor of the Year, was a speaker at the Youcon evening wood theme. Constructing in wood is becoming more common in the Netherlands. This is reflected in the amount of special wood projects that have recently been delivered and are being developed.

Youcon is the association for young constructors in the Netherlands. YouCon offers young constructors the opportunity to look beyond their own industry and thus create more understanding for each other. YouCon is there for all constructors: for advisers, contractors and supervisors, for constructors in utility construction, infrastructure, geotechnics and science; YouCon wants to make a positive contribution to the image of the manufacturer and structural safety.

Hubert is an expert in wood and is happy to talk about this. He has given a presentation about the recently completed Hotel Jakarta. Hubert's preference for wooden constructions stems from the fact that many qualities come together when using wood, such as the pleasant and natural appearance. Wood is also a sustainable material in optima forma. Wood is a natural and organic (CO2-binding) material that is widely available, can be replanted (FSC quality mark) and that can be reused in many ways after use. Sustainability and integral design play a central role in his work as a structural designer.
