Projects Pieters nominated for Arie Keppler prize

31 May 2018

MOOI Noord-Holland organises the Arie Keppler Prize for the ninth time; the North Holland prize for environmental quality. Once again, four prizes in four different categories will be awarded to individuals or organizations that have made an exceptional contribution to the physical environment of Noord-Holland in the past two years. The prize is an honorable award.

Patch22
Patch22 was designed in 2009 with a GPR score of 8.9 and an EPC of 0.2. The roof is completely filled with PV panels making the building energy-neutral. Rainwater is collected and reused in a greywater circuit. The heat is generated with CO2 neutral pellet boilers, fired on pressed wood waste from the wood industry. The 30m high residential building has wood as the main material.

Bosvilla Bergen
The heights and trees on the building ground have been mapped to embed the house, garden house, carport and barn of the Bosvilla in the landscape. The house has a two-layer structure with the sleeping quarters on the lower level. Thanks to the lower landscape at the rear of the plot, there is enough light in the bedrooms and a beautiful view to the surrounding forest. The habitat is at the ground level that connects to the surrounding landscape on three sides.

Hotel Jakarta
With the plan Hotel Jakarta, designed by SeARCH, WestCord Hotels has won the tender issued by the municipality of Amsterdam for the development of a hotel on Java island. Because of the prominent location, the city council has looked for a unique hotel concept for this location. Not only architecture was leading, but also public interpretation and sustainability. Hotel Jakarta is BREEAM Excellent **** certified; it is an energy-neutral building with 200 luxurious wooden prefab hotel rooms and a sky bar that has an enchanting view over the IJ.
