Van der Pekbuurt nominated for Best Building 2023

The renovation project of 94 homes in the Van der Pekbuurt in Amsterdam-Noord has been nominated for the renowned 'BNA Best Building of the Year' award of 2023. The project has been selected as one of the twelve best construction projects of the past year, in the category 'Private Living Experience'.

The entire complex has been renovated and given a new foundation, and it is now ready for connection to the heating network. The floor plan of the houses has been adapted to current housing requirements and the 100-year-old protected cityscape has been restored. A cluster of 30 social homes within the project has been set up as a housing cooperative.

The project was realized through a partnership between Ymere, Dura Vermeer, the residents, Bureau Monumenten en Archeologie Amsterdam, Ibelings van Tilburg architecten, LMV bouw+kundig adviesbureau, Vattenfall, Nieman Raadgevende Ingenieurs and Pieters Bouwtechniek.
